Governor Bobby Jindal Announces the Appointment of Rep. Sam Little to the Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation Board of Directors

BATON ROUGE, LA - September 16, 2008 - (RealEstateRama) — Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Representative Sam Little to the Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation Board of Directors.

The Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation Board of Directors is responsible for operating insurance plans which provide property insurance for residential and commercial property for applicants who are in good faith entitled, but are unable to procure insurance through the voluntary market.

According to statute, the commission is comprised of fifteen members, nine of which are gubernatorial appointments subject to senate confirmation and include the following:

• One member is selected from the nominations submitted by the Louisiana Bankers Association
• One member is selected from the nominations submitted by the Louisiana Home Builders Association
• One member is selected from the nominations submitted by the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants
• One member is selected from the nominations submitted by the Louisiana District Attorneys Association
• One member is selected from the nominations submitted by the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, or its successor.
• One member is selected from the nominations submitted by the American Insurance Association, or its successor.
• One member is selected from the nominations submitted by the largest domestic property insurer in the state.
• Two members will serve as at-large members.

Rep. Sam Little, of Bastrop, is a retired farmer and is a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives representing the 14th District. Little was nominated by the largest insurer in state, the Farm Bureau, as required by statute.
