NEW ORLEANS – January 28, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The City of New Orleans today issued a reminder that Monday, February 1, 2016, is the payment deadline for 2016 property taxes. Residents are strongly encouraged to pay their property taxes online or by mail on or before Monday, Feb. 1 to avoid long lines at City Hall.

City Hall will extend its office hours on Monday, Feb. 1, accepting payments from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Because Jan. 31 falls on a weekend, the City will only accept in-person payments on Monday, Feb. 1, and will do so at City Hall from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. All other payments –submitted online or by mail – must be submitted or postmarked on or before Feb. 1, 2016, to receive timely credit.

Residents who intend to pay in person may do so at the Bureau of Treasury in City Hall, Room 1W40, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For customer convenience, the City will provide a drop-off lane at the Perdido Street entrance to City Hall on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents may view and pay their property tax bills online by visiting http://www.nola.gov/pay-taxes/ external link and select “Real Estate Property Tax.” To pay online, residents will need their tax bill number.

Paying online, there are two choices of payment method:

eCheck (no convenience fee, requires checking account and bank routing number)
Credit/Debit Card (2.49 percent processing fee, even for Debit cards).
Online payments must be submitted on or before Feb. 1, 2016, to receive timely credit.

Residents may also mail a check, along with a payment stub from their property tax bill, to P.O. Box 60047, New Orleans, LA 70160-0047.

Please be sure to write the tax bill number and property address for the tax bill on the face of the check and include the payment stub. Mailed payments must be postmarked by Feb. 1, 2016, to receive timely credit.
