Boustany Announces Funding to Prevent Veteran Homelessness

(Lafayette, LA) – (RealEstateRama) — Dr. Charles Boustany (R-Lafayette) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded $5,701,387 in grant funding to five Louisiana organizations under the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program.

Boustany said: “Nothing is more important than taking care of Louisiana’s veterans. This program helps ensure our veterans and their families have access to the assistance they need during the housing process. We must do all we can to prevent those who have fought for their country from becoming homeless, and I will continue to fight for them every day.”

The SSVF program provides funding for crucial services to low-income veteran families to prevent veteran homelessness and re-house veterans who become homeless. The funding breakdown for Louisiana-based recipients is as follows:

Volunteers of America of Greater New Orleans – $2,020,000
Parishes served:Orleans, Tangipahoa, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, Assumption, Livingston, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Charles, Washington, St. Tammany, St. Helena
Wellspring Alliance for Families, Inc. – $709,713
Parishes served: Caldwell, East Carroll, Franklin, Jackson, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, Union, West Carroll
Elle Foundation – $700,291
Parishes served: Caddo, Bossier, Webster, DeSoto
Start Corporation – $625,331
Parishes served: Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, Terrebonne
Hope Center, Inc. – $1,646,052
Parishes served: Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, St. Bernard, Plaquemines
