Governor John Bel Edwards has appointed Andreanecia M. Morris to the Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) Board of Directors effective August 9, 2017. Morris currently serves as Executive Director for HousingNOLA and has more than 20 years of affordable housing experience in the public and private sector.

The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) is pleased to announce that Nicole Sweazy has been selected to chair the Governor's Council on Homelessness (Council). "Louisiana is blessed with abundance in many ways and with those blessings comes the responsibility to care for the least among us," said Gov. John Bel Edwards.

The City of New Orleans issued an update on the status and path forward for the French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project (FQIIP) which began on April 24, 2017. Due to significant rain delays, unforeseen site conditions and budget, the City has determined that it will take a phased approach to complete the project.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu and City officials provided an update on the status of the Sewerage and Water Board’s drainage system in New Orleans. The turbine damaged on Wednesday night, Turbine #1, is running after being successfully repaired and gradually brought back online. Twenty-two of 26 generators ordered for additional capacity and redundancy have arrived and are being connected. They are expected to be in service by Monday. Four final generators are in route from Miami and will be delivered Monday. This redundancy will remain throughout Hurricane Season.

Ochsner Health System opened its new Ochsner Medical Complex – River Parishes, completing a relocation of services from the former River Parishes Hospital campus to a newly-constructed, state-of-the-art facility near Tiffany Drive and Airline Highway in LaPlace. The new 20,000 square foot medical complex housing a 24-hour, 7-days a week emergency department accommodating 13 private beds, and onsite laboratory and radiology services using the latest technologies, is part of a $30 million investment and three-year commitment by Ochsner to St. John the Baptist Parish

Congressman Garret Graves (R-LA) issued the following statement today after the Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) provided the state of Louisiana some flexibility with respect to how federal disaster relief funding can be spent in response to the Great Flood of 2016, as requested by Graves and other Louisiana officials:

The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works’ construction contractor will close the intersection of Conti Street at Bourbon Street to through traffic beginning Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 8 a.m. for approximately two weeks. The closure will allow construction crews to install new underground utilities as part of the French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project. Public safety is our top priority; residents and commuters are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near this construction site

Entergy has notified the City that the Central Business District (CBD) will be experiencing a power interruption until approximately 1 p.m. Addtionally, Entergy has reported a power outage affecting a majority of the Lower 9th Ward due to damaged equipment hit by a truck

President Robottom moved action items forward to replace aging infrastructure and help the business community at the recent Council Meeting. In an effort to begin the process of seeking funds to replace existing water meters, Parish President Robottom received approval of a resolution to submit a loan pre-application to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality for commercial and residential water meter replacement.

The City of New Orleans released the French Quarter Safety & Security Traffic Study, which includes proposed recommendations to help reduce public safety risks in the French Quarter. The recommendations are linked to and support the comprehensive strategy of public safety and infrastructure investments outlined in the New Orleans Citywide Public Safety Improvements Plan, which is designed to ensure that the City is better prepared to prevent and react to public safety threats.

(SoBI) launched online voting for residents from June 5 – 18, 2017 to provide feedback on where bike share station locations would best serve their transportation needs. Bike share is a fun, healthy and convenient transit option that offers online and on-the-spot opportunities to reserve and rent a bike throughout the City.
