Americana, one of Louisiana’s premier master-planned developments, is proud to host Zachary’s “Lemonade Day!” The day-long event will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at 1250 Meeting Street, Zachary LA 70791 in the heart of Americana.
Zachary, LA – April 27, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Americana, one of Louisiana’s premier master-planned developments, is proud to host Zachary’s “Lemonade Day!” The day-long event will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at 1250 Meeting Street, Zachary LA 70791 in the heart of Americana. The event is part of Lemonade Day Louisiana, a free, fun, experiential learning program that teaches youth how to start, own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand.
The foremost objective of Lemonade Day is to empower youth to take ownership of their lives and become productive members of society – the business leaders, social advocates, volunteers, and forward thinking citizens of tomorrow.
Lemonade Day began in Houston, Texas in 2007. Since then it has grown from 2,700 kids to over 120,000 kids in 31 cities across America and Canada. It was brought to Louisiana in 2010 by Entrepreneurs John Georges (CEO of Georges Enterprises) and Todd Graves (CEO of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers). John and Todd both received their first taste of business by operating their own lemonade stand as kids.
The Lemonade Day event at Americana is hosted in partnership with the Zachary Schools, Louisiana’s best public school district for the past ten years. Americana will host 50 Lemonade Stands manned by teams of children from eight to twelve years old. Each child will learn the 14 lessons of Lemonade Day like creating budgets, setting profit-making goals, serving customers, repaying investors, and giving back to the community. They acquire skills in goal-setting, problem solving, and gain self-esteem critical for future success. The most successful lemonade stand at the Americana event will win a grand-prize of $500.00. But, every stand keeps all the money they make and are encouraged to spend some, save some and share some.
A Sweet Day in May!
While the event focuses on empowering young business leaders, all work and no play is not healthy for any family. The Lemonade Day event at Americana is a day-long event full of food, fun and music. In addition to the lemonade stands, there will be numerous food venues throughout the development. Yelp!BR will be holding a Dog Adoption. The “General Lee”, the South’s classic muscle car from The Dukes of Hazzard’s will be on hand for photos. The music begins at 3:00pm with a concert by “3 Piece White.” The event ends with a blast with a concert at 4:30pm by Dukes of Hazzard’s John Schneider!
