City to Demolish Blighted Properties

On Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, the City will demolish two properties (7855 and 7857 S. Cornet Ct.) in its continued effort to reduce blight and bring vacant properties back into commerce. The City’s blight reduction strategy, launched in 2010, has reduced blight citywide by over 15,000 addresses.

City Adds Fifth and Final Debris Pass for New Orleans East Tornado Recovery

The City of New Orleans announced it will add its fifth and final pass for debris removal from residential properties in the area most impacted by the Tornado (Chantilly Drive to Bullard Avenue and from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road) from Tuesday, Mar. 21 to Friday, Mar. 24. This will allow residents additional time to move debris from their properties to the area between the sidewalk and the curb. To ensure pick-up, all debris must be separated into their proper piles no later than Friday, Mar. 24. At the conclusion of the first four passes, over 15,000 tons of debris had been cleared from the impacted area.

City Sells all 18 Available Properties During June Adjudicated Property Auction

On June 1, the City of New Orleans held its monthly online auction for adjudicated properties, which brought in more than $184,500 after 28 individuals bid on the 18 properties that were for sale. Fifteen bidders won 18 auctions with nine going into extended bidding. A total of 660 bids were placed with the highest priced auction at $31,061. Winning bidders received full ownership and title insurance for each property. The next auction is scheduled for Wednesday, July 6, 2016.<

The City of New Orleans will host its monthly online auction for adjudicated properties on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., subject to a rolling close in the case of last-minute competitive bidding. Forty properties are scheduled to be sold throughout the community, where winning bidders will receive full ownership and title insurance for each property. The City reminds residents that there are over 900 properties still available for deposit to begin the research and notification processes before an auction may be scheduled.
