City Activates Freeze Plan for Homeless
The City is activating its Citywide Freeze Plan (CFP) beginning overnight tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, and ending Saturday morning, Dec. 9, 2017, as the National Weather Service forecasts the temperature or wind chill to fall below the plan’s activation threshold of 35 degrees. The City's freeze plan will be in effect to provide temporary shelter for homeless residents
Louisiana Remodeler Thomas Ashley Jr. Named 2017 NAHB Remodeler of the Year
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers honored Thomas Ashley Jr., CAPS, CGP, CGR, a remodeler from Denham Springs, La., with its highest remodeling achievement award, the 2017 NAHB Remodeler of the Year. The award recognizes superior business management and customer service, exemplary NAHB and community involvement and outstanding contributions to the remodeling industry. Ashley will be honored on Jan. 10, 2018, at the NAHB Remodelers All-Stars Celebration during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla.

City to Demolish Blighted Properties
On Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, the City will demolish two properties (7855 and 7857 S. Cornet Ct.) in its continued effort to reduce blight and bring vacant properties back into commerce. The City’s blight reduction strategy, launched in 2010, has reduced blight citywide by over 15,000 addresses.
City Issues Filming Notice for Residents Downtown and Central City
The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy issued filming notices for residents Downtown and Central City. On Wednesday, Nov. 22, between the hours of 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., a production company will film exterior scenes on the corner of Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard and Felicity Street. As a result, the intersection of Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard and Felicity Street will be closed during the specified time

City Issues Update on Status and Path Forward for French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project
The City of New Orleans issued an update on the status and path forward for the French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project (FQIIP) which began on April 24, 2017. Due to significant rain delays, unforeseen site conditions and budget, the City has determined that it will take a phased approach to complete the project.
Mayor Landrieu Provides Additional Sewerage and Water Board Update
Mayor Mitch Landrieu and City officials provided an update on the status of the Sewerage and Water Board’s drainage system in New Orleans. The turbine damaged on Wednesday night, Turbine #1, is running after being successfully repaired and gradually brought back online. Twenty-two of 26 generators ordered for additional capacity and redundancy have arrived and are being connected. They are expected to be in service by Monday. Four final generators are in route from Miami and will be delivered Monday. This redundancy will remain throughout Hurricane Season.
Ochsner Opens New Ochsner Medical Complex – River Parishes
Ochsner Health System opened its new Ochsner Medical Complex – River Parishes, completing a relocation of services from the former River Parishes Hospital campus to a newly-constructed, state-of-the-art facility near Tiffany Drive and Airline Highway in LaPlace. The new 20,000 square foot medical complex housing a 24-hour, 7-days a week emergency department accommodating 13 private beds, and onsite laboratory and radiology services using the latest technologies, is part of a $30 million investment and three-year commitment by Ochsner to St. John the Baptist Parish
