The City of New Orleans construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, will close Conti Street at the intersection of Bourbon Street to through traffic beginning Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 8 a.m. through sunset. The temporary closure is necessary for construction crews to identify the actual location of underground utilities that may have settled over time. Public safety is our top priority; residents and commuters are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near this construction site.

Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) today announced he will lead a bipartisan congressional delegation on his ninth annual Offshore Energy Tour. ‪On May 11, the delegation will meet with stakeholders from the energy industry, tour an offshore production platform and drilling rig, take part in a roundtable discussion with local energy and oilfield services industry leaders

Speaking in New York on Tuesday, Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren discussed commercial real estate valuations. While a variety of favorable conditions account for some of the elevated valuations, he noted that at such times it is worth asking what could go wrong and cause a reversal.

The Jefferson Parish Department of Property Maintenance Zoning/ Quality of Life (PMZ) conducted a sweep on the Westbank in Council District 4 on Thursday, April 20, 2017. The streets included in the sweep were Bryant Street, Marcie Street, Park Manor Drive and Tugie Street.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s Office of Community Development (OCD) has awarded over $12 million to development partners to create or preserve over 700 affordable rental and homeownership units in the City. The announcement comes during Fair Housing Month, which was created to commemorate of the passage of the Fair Housing Act in 1968.

The City of New Orleans issued an important property tax reminder. At the end of April, residents will receive a supplemental property tax bill with payment due May 31, 2017. On December 10, 2016, New Orleans voters approved a new property tax millage for fire protection and renewed a tax dedicated to drainage projects.

The City of New Orleans announced that it has completed work to increase security measures at the Municipal Auditorium (1201 St. Peter St.). In an effort to secure all access points to the building, the City reinforced all doors, windows and HVAC units with steel panels. Additionally, a 24-hour security detail is stationed at the Municipal Auditorium to prevent illegal trespassing on the property

Mayor Mitch Landrieu in partnership with the Downtown Development District (DDD), State and Federal officials and local service providers announced plans to expand homeless services at the former Veterans Affairs hospital located at 1530 Gravier Street. The expansion will include 100 new overnight shelter beds on the floor above the Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC), which serves as a homeless day shelter.

The City of New Orleans announced it will add its fifth and final pass for debris removal from residential properties in the area most impacted by the Tornado (Chantilly Drive to Bullard Avenue and from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road) from Tuesday, Mar. 21 to Friday, Mar. 24. This will allow residents additional time to move debris from their properties to the area between the sidewalk and the curb. To ensure pick-up, all debris must be separated into their proper piles no later than Friday, Mar. 24. At the conclusion of the first four passes, over 15,000 tons of debris had been cleared from the impacted area.

Following traumatic events such as tornadoes and floods, Louisiana Spirit crisis counselors provide an ear for listening, a shoulder to lean on and guidance for establishing normalcy.
