Louisiana Spirit Provides Crisis Counseling for Tornado Survivors

Survivors of the February tornadoes that struck Livingston and Orleans parishes can receive free disaster crisis counseling. Following traumatic events such as tornadoes and floods, Louisiana Spirit crisis counselors provide an ear for listening, a shoulder to lean on and guidance for establishing normalcy.

Get Permits Before You Rebuild

If you have property affected by the February tornadoes in Louisiana, your first step to repair or rebuild should be to check with your local building official. That’s the person who can work with you or your contractor to ensure building permits are properly filed and necessary inspections are carried out.

All but eight disaster recovery centers will not be open on Sundays beginning April 17, but help will still be available for Louisiana disaster survivors every day. Hours of operation remain 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday for all centers. Those remaining open on Sundays will have noon to 5 p.m. hours.
