Governor Bobby Jindal Announces the Reappointment of Karl Connor to the White Lake Property Advisory Board
BATON ROUGE, LA – June 5, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the reappointment of Karl Connor to the White Lake Property Advisory Board.
The White Lake Property Advisory Board serves to administer, control, and manage the White Lake Property, which is a conservation area encompassing more than 70,000 acres in Vermilion Parish.
According to statute, the board is comprised of 16 members, including the secretary of the Department of Wildlife and fisheries and the secretary of the Department of Natural Resources. The remaining 14 members are the following gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation:
Three members selected from nominations submitted by Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl, the Louisiana Nature Conservancy, the Louisiana Wildlife Federation, the Louisiana Ornithological Society, and the Sierra Club;
Three members selected from nominations submitted by the Board of Supervisors of the Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, the Board of Supervisors of the Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College and the Board of Supervisors of the University of Louisiana System;
- One member selected from nominations submitted by the Vermilion Parish Police Jury;
- Two members selected from nominations submitted by BP America, Inc.;
- One public member selected from nominations submitted by the speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives;
- One public member selected from nominations submitted by the president of the Louisiana Senate;
- One at-large member;
- One resident of Ward 8 of Vermilion Parish; and
- One member selected from nominations submitted by the Vermilion Parish School Board.
Karl Connor, of New Orleans, is the government affairs director for BP America, Inc., and the vice president of the National Bar Association. Connor was nominated for reappointment by BP America, Inc., as required by statute
