Louisiana Remodeler Selected as 2012 NAHB Remodelers Chairman

WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 17, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — George “Geep” Moore, CGR, CAPS, GMR, and owner/president of Moore-Built Construction & Restoration Inc. in Elm Grove, La., was appointed the 2012 chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers this month during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla. As chairman of the leading professional organization for residential remodeling, Moore represents the more than 24,000 remodeling industry members of NAHB.

“It is an honor to represent my fellow remodelers who are dedicated to their customers and their craft,” said Moore. “As the industry gets back on its feet, NAHB Remodelers is here as a resource and community for professional remodelers.”

Moore is a third generation remodeler with a tradition of family business that dates back to 1928 and continues today with its fourth generation, his son and partner, Brian C. Moore. He is a past president of both the Louisiana Home Builders Association and Northwest Louisiana Home Builders Association and served as chairman of the Louisiana Remodelers Council. Currently, Moore serves on the board of directors of the National Association of Home Builders and served six years on the NAHB Remodelers board of trustees.

Moore has more than 40 years of experience working in remodeling and construction, specializing in the restoration of damaged residential and commercial structures since 1989. He is qualified as an expert witness in forensic consulting litigation for cases involving construction defects and consults on city, district and federal court cases throughout North Louisiana.

Recognized as the 2008 Louisiana Home Builders Association Remodeler of the Year, Moore has numerous professional awards to his name. With 15 industry credentials including Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) and Graduate Master Remodeler (GMR) designations, Moore understands that one of the keys to his success is education.

In 2012, Moore will represent remodelers as they prepare for increased inspection and enforcement efforts by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the regulation that requires training and certification of contractors working in homes to minimize lead paint exposure.
