Scalise receives ‘Champion of the Merit Shop’ award and ‘Defender of Economic Freedom’ award
Washington, DC – July 7, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Steve Scalise was recently named a Champion of the Merit Shop by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and a Defender of Economic Freedom by the Club for Growth in its latest round of Congressional scoring.
“I am honored to earn these prestigious awards for the work I’ve done in Congress to create jobs and cut wasteful Washington spending,” Scalise said. “In order to help our economy grow and create jobs, we have to get our fiscal house in order and return to the free market principles our country was founded upon. I will continue to fight for pro-growth policies to lower taxes and rein in wasteful Washington spending so we can get our economy back on track and preserve this American dream for future generations.”

The Associated Builders and Contractors give this award to Members of Congress who support the free enterprise ideals of the merit shop philosophy through legislation that impacts the commercial and industrial construction industry.
The Club for Growth based their ranking on votes in the House during the second session of the 111th Congress. The Defender of Economic Freedom award is given to members who scored 90 percent and above in 2010 and have a lifetime score above 90 percent.
