Mayor Mitch Landrieu ordered all American and City of New Orleans flags on City property in New Orleans to be lowered to half-staff beginning at dawn on June 20, 2015, and ending at dusk on July 4, 2015, in remembrance of and out of respect for the lives lost to hate and violence on the streets of America, as well as the nine lives lost in Wednesday’s shooting at the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Charleston, S.C. He also called on others throughout New Orleans to do the same
