Vitter Announces Firefighter Grants for Safety, Operations

Funds to benefit Lafayette and Crowley Fire Departments

WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.) today announced that the Lafayette Consolidated Government Fire Department and the Crowley Fire Department will be receiving grants of $106,637 and $202,910 respectively from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to aid operations and safety of the departments.

“Maintaining and updating the fire departments in Lafayette and Crowley will ensure that our firefighters are better prepared to protect and serve our communities in those areas,” said Vitter.

These grants are part of the Fiscal Year 2014 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. Funds from this grant are allocated for enhancements in operations and safety and will be used to fund training programs and purchase necessary safety supplies and equipment.
