Rep. Richmond Announces $10.3M in Disaster Recovery Grants for Roads, Streets, and Bridges in...
Rep. Richmond (LA-02) announced the release of additional disaster recovery grants for infrastructure repair work resulting from a re-evaluation of Hurricane Katrina related damage. These grants, funded through the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be used to restore roads, streets, and bridges throughout New Orleans.
Former Coast Guard Boat Mate Awarded Grant to Fix Her Home on Land
Friends call Lynne Zane, 68, "Captain Zane" because of her career as a boat mate with the U.S. Coast Guard. During her time with the Coast Guard, Ms. Zane worked on everything from oil spills to ocean rescue missions. Then she was injured on the job. Soon, she found that after paying bills, her disability income would neither cover the maintenance of her 90-year-old home nor the repair of Hurricane Katrina damage.
U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $1.5 Million to Upgrade Infrastructure in Louisiana
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker today announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1.5 million grant to the city of Walker, Louisiana, to upgrade water services and road access to the Walker industrial park. According to grantee estimates, the project will create 200 jobs, save 859 jobs, and generate $25 million in private investment

Messer, Jr. to lead NOLABA as president and CEO effective July 1, 2015. He has most recently served as assistant secretary for Louisiana Economic Development (LED)

Ashford Hospitality Trust, Inc. (NYSE: AHT) (“Ashford Trust” or the “Company”) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of the 226-room Le Pavillon Hotel for total consideration of $62.5 million in cash ($277,000 per key). City Shelters Homeless Individuals and Conducts Cleaning Under Pontchartrain Expressway

Boil Water Advisory Cancelled for English Turn and Lower Coast Algiers
The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (S&WB), in consultation with the state Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), has cancelled the boil water advisory for residents and businesses in English Turn and Lower Coast Algiers. The advisory was cancelled after the bacteriological tests confirmed that water in the area was safe to drink and could be used as normal for personal needs

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (S&WB) has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for English Turn and the Lower Coast section of Algiers. Residents in the affected area are advised not to drink, make ice, brush teeth, bathe or shower, prepare or rinse food with tap water unless it has been properly disinfected until further notice
Robottom Recommends Contracts to Improve Public Safety, Infrastructure and Services
With a focus on improving public safety and critical infrastructure, Parish President Natalie Robottom recommended numerous contract awards at the Finance Committee meeting. An agreement for management of the Community Center was also on the agenda.
