City to Demolish Blighted Properties

On Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, the City will demolish two properties (7855 and 7857 S. Cornet Ct.) in its continued effort to reduce blight and bring vacant properties back into commerce. The City’s blight reduction strategy, launched in 2010, has reduced blight citywide by over 15,000 addresses.

City to Break Ground on Michoud Boulevard Reconstruction Project

Tomorrow, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join City and State officials, and community stakeholders to break ground on the $3.8 million Michoud Boulevard Reconstruction Project. Construction will stretch from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road in New Orleans East.

City Releases French Quarter Safety & Security Traffic Study

The City of New Orleans released the French Quarter Safety & Security Traffic Study, which includes proposed recommendations to help reduce public safety risks in the French Quarter. The recommendations are linked to and support the comprehensive strategy of public safety and infrastructure investments outlined in the New Orleans Citywide Public Safety Improvements Plan, which is designed to ensure that the City is better prepared to prevent and react to public safety threats.

City of New Orleans Lists Over 170 New Adjudicated Properties for Sale

Today at noon, the City of New Orleans will list over 170 new adjudicated properties available for sale at CivicSource.com external link. These properties were adjudicated to the City due to unpaid property taxes. The properties went unsold at tax sale and in many cases have been off the tax rolls for years, not generating annual tax revenues for the City

City Of New Orleans To Hold Online Auction For Adjudicated Properties This Wednesday

The City of New Orleans will host its monthly online auction for adjudicated properties on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., subject to a rolling close in case of last-minute competitive bidding. Nineteen properties are scheduled to be sold throughout the community, where winning bidders will receive full ownership and title insurance for each property.

JEFFERSON PARISH ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS TO CONDUCT EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS UTILIZING GRANT AWARD

The Department of Environmental Affairs has received a sub-grant from the University of New Orleans Technology Foundation, Inc. to help educate construction contractors on methods to reduce storm water pollution from construction site activities. The prime-grant was awarded to UNO from the United States EPA Lake Pontchartrain Basin Restoration Program.
