The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works’ construction contractor will close the intersection of Conti Street at Bourbon Street to through traffic beginning Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 8 a.m. for approximately two weeks. The closure will allow construction crews to install new underground utilities as part of the French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project. Entergy has notified the City that the Central Business District (CBD) will be experiencing a power interruption until approximately 1 p.m. Addtionally, Entergy has reported a power outage affecting a majority of the Lower 9th Ward due to damaged equipment hit by a truck

President Robottom moved action items forward to replace aging infrastructure and help the business community at the recent Council Meeting. In an effort to begin the process of seeking funds to replace existing water meters, Parish President Robottom received approval of a resolution to submit a loan pre-application to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality for commercial and residential water meter replacement.

The City of New Orleans released the French Quarter Safety & Security Traffic Study, which includes proposed recommendations to help reduce public safety risks in the French Quarter. The recommendations are linked to and support the comprehensive strategy of public safety and infrastructure investments outlined in the New Orleans Citywide Public Safety Improvements Plan, which is designed to ensure that the City is better prepared to prevent and react to public safety threats.

The City of New Orleans construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, will close Iberville Street at the intersection of Bourbon Street to through traffic beginning Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 8 a.m. and lasting for approximately three weeks. The Iberville intersection closure is in addition to the lane reduction on Canal Street already underway. Galvez Street Reconstruction Project in the Hoffman Triangle neighborhood. The construction will stretch from Toledano Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Baton Rouge Lasik

Mayor Mitch Landrieu wrote a letter urging the Louisiana congressional delegation to reject President Donald Trump’s Administration’s proposal to eliminate the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). The letter is signed by other Louisiana mayors and community stakeholders that have benefited from these grants. This comes following the Trump Administration's announcement of its 2018 budget proposal
