New Orleans Regional Transit Authority Approves $4.4 Million Service Expansion Plan
the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Board of Commissioners approved $4.4 million of transit service enhancements. These changes include earlier start times and 24-hour service on many routes used by commuters to access downtown employment centers, education facilities and medical care. These improvements will be implemented beginning Sunday, April 17, 2016
DISASTER RECOVERY CENTER OPENS IN BOSSIER CITY, LOUISIANA
A disaster recovery center will open Saturday, March 19, in Bossier City to help Louisiana flood survivors. This center is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Today, the New Orleans Building Corporation (NOBC) – the City of New Orleans’ public benefit corporation – announced that it will erect fencing around the surface parking lots under the U.S. 90/ Pontchartrain Expressway. In total, four parking lots under the expressway along Calliope Street from St. Charles Avenue to S. Rampart Street/Loyola Avenue will be fenced so that they may be returned to commerce as managed parking.
City to Hold Monthly Online Auction for Adjudicated Properties This Wednesday
The City of New Orleans will host its monthly online auction for adjudicated properties on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., subject to a rolling close in the case of last-minute competitive bidding. Forty properties are scheduled to be sold throughout the community, where winning bidders will receive full ownership and title insurance for each property. The City reminds residents that there are over 900 properties still available for deposit to begin the research and notification processes before an auction may be scheduled.

City Announces Sale of Blighted Lake Terrace Shopping Center
the City of New Orleans announced that the former Lake Terrace Shopping Center at 1532 Robert E. Lee Blvd. in the Gentilly neighborhood will be redeveloped by local developer Kenneth Lobell. Since it was flooded during Hurricane Katrina, this private property has sat blighted and vacant. For the last year several years, the City has aggressively pursued action against the property’s former owner, DMK Acquisitions and Properties LLC (DMK), to force redevelopment of this commercial property.
